Two men are in custody following a standoff in eastern Missouri that authorities say involved shots fired at police.

The standoff began about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in De Soto, about 40 miles south of St. Louis. De Soto police say shots were fired at arriving officers. No one was hurt.

Eventually, more than 50 officers from De Soto Police, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol converged on the scene. A negotiator convinced the suspect to surrender. Authorities say the suspect and a second man are in custody, but have not released further details about the role of the second man.

There was concern about hostages in the home but authorities now do not believe there were any hostages.
