(SEDALIA, Mo.) – The final Sunday of the Pepsi Grandstand Series will end strong, and loud, with the Lucas Oil Missouri State Fair Protect the Harvest Summer Nationals pull starting at 5 p.m. The event lineup in the State Fair Arena will also wrap up with the crowd-pleasing Demolition Derby at 2 p.m.

The Protect the Harvest pull is a new event being held at this year’s Missouri State Fair. The pull is known as an American competition that is a combination of sheer horsepower and driver skill. General admission to the pull is $25 for ages 6 and over, and the derby is $12 for adults and $6 for ages 6-12, children age 5 and younger are free to both events. Tickets are available at the State Fair Box Office, which is open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The theme for Sunday, Aug. 17, is Protect the Harvest Day, sponsored by Lucas Oil, and will include free gate admission for law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, with appropriate I.D. Gate admission for their immediate family members will be $1. Half-price gate admission will be offered to other visitors this day, $4 for ages 13 and older and $1 for ages 6-12, and an unlimited carnival ride wristband will be available for $15 at the midway ticket booths, also a savings of 50 percent.

Several other events will be held the final Sunday of the Missouri State Fair, including the Missouri Fiddling Championships at 1:30 p.m. on the Touchstone Energy Stage, and the Missouri State Fair Idol Finals, at 2 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage. The Idol is sponsored again this year by Oroweat, Sara Lee, Thomas and Nature’s Harvest.
