Sedalia man in jail on assault with a weapon charge

Just before midnight Saturday night Sedalia police investigated a report of someone pointing a shotgun at someone, in the 1200 block of East 10th. Upon contact with the suspect, 52-year-old Robert Billups of the residence, the report states he readily admitted to having the shotgun. Billups said he had the shotgun to get the person to leave. At the time of the police report Billups was on 24-hour hold pending formal charges of 2nd degree assault with a weapon.

Victim and witness report an intentional hit and run accident

Just after mid-night Saturday morning Sedalia police investigated a disturbance in the 500 block of West 3rd. Upon arrival a Stover woman reported a male suspect hit her vehicle parked in the alley intentionally with his vehicle, following an argument. A male victim told officers the he had to move quickly to avoid being struck by the suspect’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle sustained approximately $1000 damage. There was no information on a suspect in the police report.

Sedalia man bit by dogs in the 600 block of West Jefferson

At 6:24 Saturday evening Sedalia police responded to the 600 block of West Jefferson on the report of a dog bite. Upon arrival the victim told officers he was bitten on both hands as he attempted to stop two Bull Terriers that had attacked his dog. Officers located the dogs a short time later, and had to shoot one of the animals. The other dog was captured and taken to the animal shelter. The victim was treated at the scene by APSI personnel.

Sedalia man arrested Sunday afternoon for felonious restraint

At 1:33 Sunday afternoon Sedalia police were dispatched to the 1400 block of East 6th on a disturbance. Upon arrival a 51-year-old female victim told the officers, her boyfriend, 46-year-old Edwin Gasson of the residence had held her down and kept her from leaving the residence, since 10-o’clock the night before. Gasson was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on 24-hour hold pending charges of Felonious Restraint.

Suspect sought for striking a female victim and taking her purse

At 2:05 Sunday afternoon Sedalia police received an assault complaint from a 22-year-old female victim in the 2300 block of Lewis Circle. According to the victim a male suspect came to her location, and started an argument, he then struck her three times in the face with a diaper bag, took her purse, and left the area. There was no information on the suspect in the police report.

Money and pills stolen from a woman in the 200 block of South Grand

Around 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon Sedalia police took a theft complaint from a woman in the 200 block of South grand. The victim reported sometime over the past three-weeks someone stole $400 from the residence. The victim also reported that sometime overnight someone took between 10-20 Alprzolam pills. There was a 17-year-old suspect in custody at the time of the police report.

Thieves target a parked vehicle at Walmart

At 1:46 Saturday afternoon a female victim reported the theft of her purse, from her vehicle. The vehicle was parked at Walmart at the time, and the victim is not sure it was locked. Contents of the purse included social security cards of the victim, and her son, debit cards, a digital camera, and $75 in cash. There are no suspects.
