Mark A. Higginbotham was the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 400 block of South Grand. At 1:30 p.m., he stated he was walking on Harrison near 4th Street when a vehicle backed into him, knocking him over. The vehicle then left the area without checking on Mr. Higginbotham. He complained of leg pain and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. The vehicle was not identified.

Traver U. Smith, 41, Sedalia, was arrested on Sunday evening after police responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of W. Cooper. The caller stated her baby daddy struck her and spit in her face. Smith told police she came to his house spit on him and pushed him. After a computer check, it was revealed Smith had an active warrant out of Pettis County. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a bond of $25,000. A court date was to be determined.

Anthony C. Owens, 18, Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after police conducted a subject check at 920 Thompson. Officers noted a smell of marijuana on Owens. A consent search revealed a marijuana pipe and a marijuana grinder in his possession. A court date of Aug. 10 was set.
