Traffic stop Wednesday afternoon results in arrest for a female driver

At 12:22 Wednesday afternoon Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle at 16th and Missouri with expired license plates. Upon contact with the driver 19-year-old Skylar Newland she was found to be a suspended driver. She was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail pending a $533.50 bond.

Noise complaint results in a man being charged with possession of marijuana

Around 10:30 Wednesday night Sedalia Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Rainbow Drive on a noise complaint. Upon arrival the officers found a man playing basketball in the roadway. During the investigation the officer also found another subject identified as 18-year-old Jesse Garron Leclair of rural Sedalia was in possession of marijuana. Leclair was issued a summons and a court date.

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s report a student at Smith Cotton High School reported the theft of a cell phone. The student told the School’s Resource Officer the cell phone was taken from their locker. An investigation continues into the theft.
