Saturday and Sunday Sedalia Police investigate cases of child abandonment

On Saturday the Sedalia Police were dispatched to the American Inn Motel at 1217 South Limit for a 2-year-old child in the parking lot. Upon arrival the mother was not around resulting in the child being given to its father. On Sunday the police returned to the scene where the woman had reportedly abandoned 2 children with different fathers, and her job. The police report states one of the children was given to its father while an older child was placed with a responsible stepmother. There was no other information in that police report.

Sedalia woman arrested on multiple drug and child endangerment charges Friday

Just before noon Friday morning Sedalia Police were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of West 4th to assist the Division of Family Services on a house with a possible methamphetamine Lab. During a search of the house methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia was located. The police report states 33-year-old Dianna Rose Thigpen of the residence was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on 24-hour hold. Thigpen faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of other non-narcotic drugs, 5-counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and 5-counts of unlawful transactions with a child.

Traffic stop lands a rural Sedalia woman in jail Friday

Around 10:18pm Friday night Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle at 16th and Collins for a headlight that was out, and expired registration. A check on the occupants revealed one of them identified as 29-year-old Melissa Marie McClannahan of rural Sedalia had a probation violation warrant out of Morgan County. She was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was being held without bond at the time of the police report.

42-year-old Sedalia woman arrested for domestic assault Sunday night

At 10:11 Sunday night Sedalia police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of East 13th. Upon arrival they arrested the suspect and transported her to the Pettis County jail, where she was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges of 3rd degree domestic assault.

Traffic stop nets man for driving while intoxicated

Around 3:40 Saturday morning Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 16th and Warren for expired plates. Upon contact with the driver 24-year-old Jeffery Caleb Rhoads of Smithton he was found to be intoxicated. Rhoades was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $533.50 bond for driving while intoxicated; Rhoads also has a failure to appear warrant out of Johnson County with a $500 cash only bond.

Puppies found dead in a bedroom where they were abandoned in November

On the 3rd of February Sedalia Police responded to a house in the 600 block of West 6th on 2 dead 6-month-old puppies that were found in a closed bedroom. Upon arrival the owner of the house told the officers the suspect who owned the puppies moved out in November. The police report states an investigation is underway in the incident.

Local Rent a Center reports multiple thefts

According to Sedalia Police reports the Rent a Center located at 3040 West Broadway here in Sedalia reported multiple cases of non-payment on rental contracts. The police reports list cases ranging from $1350 to $4500 for televisions, and furniture. The cases are being categorized as thefts.
