Sedalia man is a victim of an online scam

At 4:13 Wednesday afternoon Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 100 block of East Saline on a scam complaint. Upon arrival the victim told officers he had sold $1000 worth of items online, and the buyer sent him a check for $1950 with instructions to cash the check, and then send them back $950. The victim sent a money order to the scammer for the $950 then learned the check was returned as a fictitious account. The victim lost $1950 in the transaction. There was no other information in the police report.

Local business receives two bad checks from a closed account

Just after 11am Wednesday morning Sedalia Police responded to the Orscheln Store at 2424 South Limit on a forgery report. Upon arrival the complainant reported they had received 2 checks on a closed account. The case is under investigation.

Gas drive off at Casey’s reported

Around 7:40 am this (Thursday) morning a Casey’s Store reported a gas drive off.  The police report states a license plate number was obtained by the complainant, but it was not on file. There was no other information at news time
