Sedalia man arrested for assault and weapons charge Wednesday afternoon

Around 4:11 Wednesday afternoon the Sedalia Police took a report of an assault from a victim at the police station. According to the victim a suspect identified as 37-year-old Jerry Joe Mullins Jr. pointed a gun at him at a residence in the 300 block of east 14th. The police report states Mullins was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail  pending formal charges of 2nd degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. The police report also states the gun was seized.

Vehicle stop Wednesday morning nets a Warsaw man with warrants

At 7:42 Wednesday morning Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle in the area of 16th and Limit for speeding. Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle dispatch informed the officer the passenger had 2-active warrants out of Henry County. 49-year-old John M. Sweeney of Warsaw was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail pending a $5150 cash only bond.

Two-people arrested following a traffic stop early Monday morning

Just before 2am Monday morning Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle with no registration at 3rd and Hancock. A check through dispatch revealed the driver, 51-year-old Richard Allen Ferguson of Sedalia was suspended, and a passenger 22-year-old Franklin Carl Nelson Jr. of Sedalia had a failure to appear warrant out of Reynolds County. Both suspects were transported to the Pettis County Jail pending bonds of $533.50 for Ferguson, and $300 cash only for Nelson.

Two women arrested at the Dollar General for stealing

According to a Sedalia Police report officers were dispatched to the Dollar general at 713 East Broadway on Monday on a shoplifting complaint. According to an employee 38-year-old Susannah G. Safely of California Missouri left the store with items in her purse that she had not paid for. Safely was arrested and taken to the Pettis County jail where she was booked and released pending the filing of charges.
At 8:27 Wednesday morning the Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Dollar General at 713 East Broadway on another stealing complaint. The police report states 44-year-old Wendy A. Vest of Sedalia reportedly pushed a cart from the store with items she had not paid for. Vest was arrested and taken to the Pettis County jail and placed on 24-hour hold pending state charges of stealing.
