Allen Hall "Gus" Pledge Jr., 90, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Fair View Nursing Home.

He was born February 13, 1925, in Slater, son of Allen Hall Pledge Sr. and Ollie Marie Hall Pledge, who preceded him in death. On June 18, 1950, in Sedalia, he was married to Marjorie Mae Kahrs, who survives of the home.

Mr. Pledge retired from KCP&L after 42 years, where he traveled all over the area installing meters on large businesses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening and spending time with his grandkids. He was a Technical Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II and completed 26 missions over Berlin as a radio operator on a B-24. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, survivors include a son, Bob Pledge (Martha), of Overland Park, KS; a daughter, Dr. Deanna S. Pledge, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Megan Neihouse (Aaron), Molly Flores (Lorenzo), Andy Pledge (Hye Jung), Tom Pledge and Kate Ross (Matt); and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shelby Seelinger officiating.

Casket bearers will be Aaron Neihouse, Andy Pledge, Tom Pledge, Matt Ross, Pete Kahrs, Steven Kahrs and Lorenzo Flores.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Epworth United Methodist Church or the new Sedalia Animal Shelter.
