UPDATE: Amber Alert Issued for 5-Year-Old Poplar Bluff Girl

UPDATE: The suspect and missing child have been located in Butler County and the victim is safe.  Jeffrey Shelton, a registered sex offender, was taken into custody and remains in the Poplar Bluff jail.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 5-year-old Poplar Bluff girl abducted between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday.  Authorities are looking for Jeffrey Shelton, a registered sex offender.

Shelton is a 45-year-old white man, 6', 175 lbs with brown hair and green eyes. He is believed to be driving a silver 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with a Missouri license plate and license number PJ8Z5M.

The girl, Abigail Berthoff, is biracial and has black hair and brown eyes.
