American Red Cross Spokesman Dan Fox Gives Us the Facts About Friday’s Blood Drive [INTERVIEW]
The American Red Cross, the St. Louis Cardinals and all of us here at the station are asking Sedalia to Step Up To the Plate! There's going to be a big blood drive this Friday, July 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our stations are going to be there with a live remote, so listen for Kaleb that afternoon, he'll have some great giveaways. It's going to be held at the Katy Depot's Women's Waiting Room, a great historic space in one of the oldest and most loved buildings in Sedalia.
Presenting donors will receive a specially designed St Louis Cardinals blood drive T-shirt, while supplies last. Don't forget to bring your photo I.D.
Here are a few basic requirements to give blood:
- Be healthy
- Be at least 17 years old in most states, or 16 years old with parental consent if allowed by state law.
- Weigh at least 110 lbs.
Additional weight requirements apply for donors 18 years old and younger and all high school donors.
I got to talk with Dan Fox, the local American Red Cross spokesman, about some of the benefits of donating blood, as well as their extreme need. Here's our talk:
Make sure you get out there, and if you want to be organized you can make an appointment at redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-REDCROSS.
Givingly yours,
