Are Wet News Anchors Really Neccesary? [OPINION]

Is it just me, or is it a little silly to see a newsman knee deep in flood waters doing a news report on an approaching storm like Hurricane Sandy? Do they really think we don’t know what a flooded street looks like?

The height of this stupidity was a video from 2012 with a reporter sitting in a row boat with several passengers surrounded by water.  It looked like they were braving deep water. The problem was a guy walked behind them at just the right time, and the water was not even up to his knees.

So much for fake heroics. If these wet reporters want to impress us, let them join Greenpeace and save a whale or something.
