Arthur Sims Sr.,76

Arthur Sims Sr., 76, of Sedalia, MO passed away November 1, 2015 at Rest Haven in Sedalia.  He was born on March 17, 1939 in Clifton City, MO the son of  Luther and Ana Mesa (Frazier) Sims, who preceded him in death.

On January 6, 1962, he was united in marriage to Annie Purnell, who preceded him in death on July 19, 2014. They were blessed to see their union last 50 years.

He worked as an Equipment Operator for W.J. Menefee Construction Company for over 26 years; and finished his years of employment with Howard and LaFarge Construction Company.

He loved to work construction and enjoyed fishing.  His passion was farming, working on equipment, driving tractors and attending tractor pulls.

Arthur is survived by: daughter, Angela Johnson (Jerome) of Yeadon, PA; son Arthur J. Sims, Jr. (Freda) of Sedalia; daughter Roxanne Combs (Howard) of Columbia, MO; and son Donovan Sims of Sedalia; sister, Ida Nell Shepard of Sedalia; brother, Elmer Sims of Sedalia; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Chandler Anthony; two sisters, Jewell and Imogene Sims; and one brother Mason Sims.

Funeral services will be held at,10:00 am, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with, Rev. Naomi Branch officiating.

Family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am prior to service at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.  Full military honors will be conducted at graveside.

Pallbearers will be Don Abney, Jerry Pogue, George Bradford, Larry Newbill, Leonard Phillips, and Clifford Dove.

Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral chapel.
