Man Wins Roach-Eating Contest, Then Dies

When faced with eating something really disgusting—like, say, a cockroach—one strategy would be to think to yourself, "At least this won't kill me," before chowing down.

That technique wouldn't have worked, however, for Edward Archbold. On Friday, the 32-year-old entered a roach-eating contest at Ben Siegel Reptile Store in Deerfield Beach, Florida, and won after devouring "dozens" of three-inch discoid roaches in a four-minute time period.

Chinese Restaurant in Kentucky Shut Down for Serving Roadkill

Talk about mystery meat.

The Red Flower Chinese Restaurant in Williamsburg, Kentucky, was shut down last week after health officials found they were serving their customers roadkill. This highly questionable culinary practice was revealed when customers caught restaurant employees bringing a dead deer into the kitchen.

"There was actually a blood trail they were mopping up behind the garbage can," customer Katie Hopkins said.

Americans Keep Having Fewer Babies, Probably Because of the Economy

Call it the "baby bust." For the fourth straight year, birth rates in the United States have declined.

Slightly fewer than four million babies were born in the U.S. in 2011, the lowest total since 1998. However, the 1 percent drop in the birth rate was less than it had been in the previous three years. This suggests that the economic pressure experts believe is depressing the birth rate may be easing up.
