UCM Mules Secure Their First Win of the 2013 Season

The Central Missouri Mules shut out Lindenwood in the second half and turned a close game into a runaway as they won their first game of the season, 47-28, on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 21) at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. The Mules trailed 28-26 at halftime, but outscored the Lions 21-0 in the second half.

UCM Family Weekend Brings Road Closures To Warrensburg Area

The University of Central Missouri Family Weekend is here.  Some events will cause road closures in the downtown area of Warrensburg.

Road Closures:

Holden Street will be closed from East Market to the Justice Center from 6:00pm Friday, September 20th to 3:00pm Sunday, September 22nd.

In addition, the closure of Holden Street will expand

Police Looking for Two Subjects in Johnson County

The Johnson County Emergency Management issued an alert that there is police activity in the Area of SW 951 and SW Division Road. Police are searching for two subjects in relation to subject fleeing traffic stop in Lafayette, Co. Citizens are asked to use extreme caution, do not open the door for anyone, make sure all vehicles and residences are locked, and call 911 immediately to report any suspicious activity.

St. Louis Cardinals Offer Free Tickets to Active Military, Veterans and First Responders

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that the team, in conjunction with Major League Baseball and Bank of America , is offering all active and retired military, as well as all emergency first responders free tickets to the Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12 games vs. Milwaukee to commemorate the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Governor Jay Nixon Orders Flags to Half-Staff Statewide to Honor Fallen Soldier from Sullivan County

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered that the U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings in all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis be flown at half-staff on Thursday, Sept. 5 to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Private First Class Jonathon M.D. Hostetter. Private First Class Hostetter, age 20, of Humphreys, was a soldier in the United States Army serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He died on Aug. 23 while serving his country in Wardak Province, Afghanistan; his funeral will be held on Sept. 5.

Fire Causes Heavy Smoke in University of Central Missouri Dining Hall

By Micah J. Chrisman (WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — The Warrensburg Fire Department (WFD) responded to a fire call at the University of Central Missouri on Sunday (Sept. 1) between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the South Todd dining hall. No injuries were incurred, but students were evacuated due to large amounts of smoke. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a minor electrical shortage.

Warrensburg Police Conduct Alcohol Compliance Check, Several Businesses Caught Selling to Minors

The Warrensburg Police Department and the University of Central Missouri’s Department of Public Safety conducted alcohol compliance checks of local businesses that possess a liquor license on Aug. 18, 2013. Underage buyers working under the supervision of local law enforcement went into businesses that possesses a liquor license and attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages. The purpose of compliance checks is to assess the level of availability of alcohol to minors within the community and prevent the sale of alcohol to minors.
