Walter Jack Staten Pleads Guilty to Second Degree Murder in Connection with 2011 Shooting

Walter Jack Staten, 50, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree and armed criminal action on Wednesday (Oct. 2) in the Circuit Court of Cooper County, Mo. He entered the pleas as prospective jurors waited in the hallway for a trial scheduled for Wednesday through Friday of this week.

Gov. Nixon Announces Major Infrastructure Improvements at the Missouri State Fairgrounds

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon joined Missouri State Senator Mike Parson and other state and local officials in Sedalia today (Oct. 1) to announce $2.2 million in infrastructure improvements at the more than 100-year-old Missouri State Fairgrounds. The improvements include upgrades to the storm water management system at the fairgrounds.

UCM Mules Secure Their First Win of the 2013 Season

The Central Missouri Mules shut out Lindenwood in the second half and turned a close game into a runaway as they won their first game of the season, 47-28, on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 21) at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. The Mules trailed 28-26 at halftime, but outscored the Lions 21-0 in the second half.

The University of Central Missouri Family Weekend is here.  Some events will cause road closures in the downtown area of Warrensburg.

Road Closures:

Holden Street will be closed from East Market to the Justice Center from 6:00pm Friday, September 20th to 3:00pm Sunday, September 22nd.

Police Looking for Two Subjects in Johnson County

The Johnson County Emergency Management issued an alert that there is police activity in the Area of SW 951 and SW Division Road. Police are searching for two subjects in relation to subject fleeing traffic stop in Lafayette, Co. Citizens are asked to use extreme caution, do not open the door for anyone, make sure all vehicles and residences are locked, and call 911 immediately to report any suspicious activity.
