Four Americans Including US Ambassador Killed in Attack on U.S. Consulate in Libya

The U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens was killed Wednesday morning (September 12) after protestors demonstrating against a film that depicted Islam's Prophet Mohammad attacked a U.S. consulate in the city of Benghazi.  Three other Americans died as well in the attack.

Murder Suspects Arraigned in Whitworth Case, Ziyad T. Abid Denied Bond

Reginald Singletary and Ziyad T. Abid of Warrensburg were arraigned in Johnson County Associate Circuit Court this afternoon on first degree murder and armed criminal action charges in connection with the shooting of William “Blaine” Whitworth in Warrensburg on September 2.  While bond on Singletary, age 27,  was continued at $1 million, bond on Abid has been denied.  The 24-year-old Abid will be held without bond.

Vehicle Fire Closes All Lanes of I-70

Both eastbound and westbound lanes lanes of Interstate 70 were closed early Tuesday morning due to a vehicle fire near mile marker 115 and the Missouri river bridge.  According to KOMU, emergency crews responded to the fire around 9:00 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the bridge.  ABC 17 reports that a semi-truck and a car were involved in the accident.

UPDATE: Drag Boat Test & Tune Cancelled Due to Stormy Weather at Lucas Oil Speedway

UPDATE: After several boats made Test Session passes on Lake Lucas, rain forced the cancellation of today's Test and Tune on Lake Lucas. The 2nd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals will resume tomorrow as scheduled, weather permitting.
