Authorities are investigating after gunshots were reported near a Missouri Southern State University residence hall.

The Joplin Globe reports that no injuries were reported. The Joplin university said in a news release that campus police received a report of possible gunshots being fired about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The release says that surveillance video showed that the shots were fired into the air from a vehicle that came from a nearby apartment complex and then sped away from the campus. Campus and city police are investigating.

No other information was available. A university spokeswoman didn't immediately return a phone message from The Associated Press seeking comment.
