Authorities say a 3-year-old Missouri boy who was found dead hours after he was reported missing likely died of hypothermia.

The Iron County coroner's office told The (Park Hills) Daily Journal that preliminary autopsy results show 3-year-old Titus Greyson Tackett died of hypothermia. The autopsy showed no signs or bruising or abuse.

The child was reported missing Wednesday from his grandfather's house in Ironton, a rural community about 75 miles south of St. Louis. The boy's mother and father said they saw him at around midnight Tuesday before they went on an errand.

Iron County Sheriff Roger Medley says when they returned around 1:30 a.m., the door was open and the child was missing.

The child's body was spotted later Wednesday in a neighbor's van wrapped in a blanket.
