Benny Keith Townsend, 67, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 18, 1947 in Corona, California, a son of Benjamin Andrew and Elizabeth Lorraine (Payne) Townsend.

Benny worked for over twenty years with Southwestern Bell. He retired as a line locater in 1995. Benny enjoyed collecting Corvettes and motorcycles. He loved photography and spending time with his grandson. He also loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Benny was a former member of the Sedalia Moose Lodge.

Benny is survived by two children, Julie (Randy) Hill of Sedalia, Kim (Chad) Luetjen of Cole Camp; one sister, Jerri Kudart of Kansas City; and two grandchildren, Coby and Danica.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Gay Hayes; and his long time companion and special friend, Ann Stone.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Vi Rhoads officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel one hour prior to service.

Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery, Sedalia.

Pallbearers will be Dale Todd, Kenny Johns, Gary Ditton, Brent Short, Andrew Short, and Len Schlobohm.

Honorary bearers will be Gerald Rhoads, Bill Dodd, and Coby Schlobohm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to organization of the donor’s choice.
