A 74-year-old man from Edwards, MO, was flown to an area hospital after suffering serious injuries in a rollover accident Wednesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident around 2:45 in Benton County.

The accident occurred as a 2008 Dodge Ram was traveling north on Route FF, just north of Route DD. The Dodge traveled off the right side of the road, striking an embankment with its undercarriage. The vehicle then crossed Wilderness Avenue, and began to slide into a field. The Dodge then struck a barbed wire fence and overturned, ejecting the driver. The vehicle rolled back over onto its wheels and finally came to rest.

The driver, 74-year-old Leroy M. Chenoweth, suffered serious injuries in the accident. He was taken to University Medical Center, by Staff for Life Air Ambulance, for treatment.

According to that report, the Dodge Ram sustained extensive damage and was towed.
