It’s time for Sedalia to make plans for the 4th of July celebrations again this year, there are two events that will make the planning easier.

The 6th Annual “Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration” will begin in downtown Sedalia at 10:00 a.m. the morning of the 4th with a parade that will feature former Missouri State Senator Jim Mathewson as its Grand Marshall.  The party moves to Centennial Park at 11:30 after the parade.

At the park, those in attendance will be treated to free food courtesy of the sponsors of the events including the Sedalia Parks and Recreations Department. There will be lots of games including an old fashioned three-legged race and tug of war.

Later that evening, the City of Sedalia along with the Blue Ribbon Committee and event sponsors will present the annual fireworks display at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Gates open at 6:00 with live music starting at 7 p.m., featuring the Smith-Cotton Jazz Band, followed by Full Moon Band playing a mix of classic rock and blues.

Come join the fun in celebrating our freedom on July 4th at the Missouri State Fairgrounds!
