The Boonslick Regional Library continues to accept new participants for the children's summer reading programs. Numerous activities are provided by the library to keep children reading and learning throughout summer break.

"We are still looking for participants aged 12 to 18 for our Fractured Fairie Tale Readers' Theatre," said Jackie Oliphant with Boonslick Regional Library. "The first meeting will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at the library. During this first meeting, teens will choose a skit that will be performed for our younger patrons at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21."

During the first meeting, Readers' Theatre participants will also work out a rehearsal schedule that fits their needs. Participants are not required to memorize lines, so they can hone their acting skills free of the added pressure.

Additional summer programs include origami and yoga demonstrations, a book club for 12-year-olds, and the LEGO club. The LEGO club is open to children and teens aged 4 to 18. Upcoming LEGO club meetings are scheduled for Monday, June 6 and Monday, June 13. Participants will be asked to build based on a chosen theme.

An "End of Summer Reading Program" celebration is set for 10 a.m. July 29.

"We are going to have a professional magician and puppeteer named Joe Magic," Oliphant said. "That's going to be our big grand finale. There is a lot of stuff going on."

The writing workshop for teens led by author Angela Roquet, story time for preschoolers, and the summer reading club continue to have space for additional participants. Children can be signed up for programs until July 30. For more information, contact the Sedalia branch at (660)827-READ (7323).
