The Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary recently awarded three $2,500 scholarships to students in health care.

The Nursing scholarships were given to Samantha Unkel and Stephanie Nicholson, and the Bellamy Scholarship, which is named for longtime auxiliary volunteer Anna Marie Bellamy, went to Brittany Maher.

A press release from BRHC says that Unkel is in the last year of a Bachelor of Science program at Missouri Valley College in Marshall while working at Bothwell.

Nicholson is a registered nurse at BRHC and is working on a master’s degree in nursing to become a nurse practitioner.

Maher is in the radiologic technician program at State Fair Community College, where she will graduate in May.

Karen Suroff, chairwoman of the BRHC Auxiliary Scholarship Committee, said the Auxiliary was pleased to increase the scholarships this year from $1,500 each to $2,500.

“Congratulations to our scholarship winners,” Suroff said. “The committee wishes them all the best as they continue in their health care careers. It’s our hope that each of them will return to Bothwell and continue to serve our community in the future.”
