Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri Executive Director Harper Mruk offered the Board of Directors her resignation this week, effective at the end of July. Mruk is leaving the position due to family circumstances.

“I have loved this community and enjoyed getting to know the people in it. I had looked forward to making this my home,” Mruk said. “This was the easiest and hardest decision I had to make. Easiest, because I need to be closer to my family but because of my feelings for the good work the Club does and will continue to do, it will be hard to leave Sedalia.”

Mruk noted the Club’s strong programming and thanked the administration staff, site managers and youth development professionals for their continued dedication to the Club’s mission of inspiring and enabling all young people to realize their full potential as caring and productive citizens.

Despite Mruk’s short tenure, her leadership and accomplishments have helped continue to move the Club in a positive direction, said Board President RJ Lindstrom.

“We are sad to see Harper leave and were looking forward to having her take the Club into the future,” Lindstrom added. “Her short time here in Sedalia has already shown a large impact.”

“I am confident the staff will continue to put the needs of our members first, in all they do, and the Club will move forward in its goals,” Mruk said. “I will miss this community, the staff and the members we serve each and every day. I know the board will choose a new executive director that will keep the Club moving forward.”

The Board will begin its search for executive director candidates in the coming weeks.
