Bud Thatcher, 81, of Sedalia, died Thursday, August 16, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 15, 1931, in Healdton, OK, son of Forest Thatcher and Minnie Pearl Crane Rhoads. In 1954, in Santa Ana, CA, he married Doris J. Johnson, who survives of the home.

Bud was a member of Parkway Freewill Baptist Church. He worked as an inspector at the Chevrolet plant in Kansas City. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, survivors include two daughters, Shirley Collins (Roger), of Kansas City, MO, and Kathy Vens (Mark), of Davenport, IA; a son, Don Thatcher (Frances), of Sedalia; and four grandchildren, Morgan Collins, Zachary Tatum, Colton Tatum and Justin Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Talbott officiating.

Casket bearers will be Dalton Owens, Justin Collins, Dennis Bohannon, Kevin Johnson, Gary Johnson and Kenny Rush.

Honorary bearers will be Roger Collins and Mark Vens.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
