Every year new businesses come to town, and some older businesses close up shop. Here's a look at some of the new businesses that opened in Sedalia in 2017.

T.J. Maxx

T.J. Maxx spent several months renovating the former Goody's space in the Thompson Hills Shopping Center. The new store opened for businesses on Sunday, October 8. During the grand opening celebration, Child Safe of Central Missouri received a $10,000 donation from the TJX Foundation.

PetSmart

PetSmart is one of a series of new businesses that has opened in the last couple years in the area of Menards and Kohl's. The Sedalia PetSmart opened for the first time in July. The Sedalia PetSmart recently donated hundreds of plush puppies and kittens to Bothwell Regional Health Center. Nationally, the PetSmart toy drives is in its sixth year of providing thousands of toys to children in need and hospitalized children across the country.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Very close to PetSmart is Buffalo Wild Wings, which began serving Sedalia customers on October 30. To launch the new Sedalia location, Buffalo Wild Wings gave the first 100 customers through the door on opening day free wings for an entire year. The new store, decked out in the company's black-and gold colors, has 39 TV screens mounted through the dining area.

In 2017 Sedalia also got a new Harbor Freight Tools. Woods opened in the former Bing's location in the State Fair Shopping Center. Best Donut came to S. Limit Avenue, and a new Dollar General opened on Broadway.
