On December 2 the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office arrested a 35-year-old California man on drug charges.

According to a news release, a deputy on routine patrol observed a vehicle with a flat tire pull into a convenience store parking lot. The deputy recognized the driver from previous encounters and knew that he had a suspended driver's license. The deputy asked Jacob P. Murphy for consent to search his vehicle, which was denied. A K9 unit arrived on the scene and alerted for drugs in the vehicle.

Authorities say a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Murphy was taken to the Moniteau County Jail, where he was asked to consent to a urinalysis, which tested positive for drugs.
