Registration for Camp Blue Sky is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., in the Stauffacher Center on the State Fair Community College campus.

Camp Blue Sky, a fine-arts camp for children ages four through ninth grade, will be held Aug. 1-5 on the SFCC campus. "Campers" will draw, paint, sculpt, write, act, sing, dance and photograph during the five-day event, led by professional teaching artists, according to Camp Blue Sky Founder Barbara Cooney.

The theme this year is "Greece Is The Word" with an emphasis on Greek art, ceramics, mythology and drama. Guest artists will be on hand throughout the week, plus there will be an interactive performance from "Kansas City Young Audiences."

To celebrate the theme, the camp is offering a "thespian experience," an opportunity to produce and perform in a one-act play, based on Greek culture. The play is open to young actors in grades eight and nine who can commit to practice weekday afternoons Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m., July 11-28.

The "Sky Players" will be designing the set and costumes, and will be under the direction of Eric Yazell, SFCC theatre program coordinator; and Kristen Henning, theatre instructor. The cost for the theatre workshop is $150. Enrollment is limited.

An "arts in community" session launches each morning at 8:15 a.m., and closes each day at 3:15 p.m.

Kindergarten sessions run from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m., and from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. Preschool for four- year-olds is scheduled for 8:15 to 10:15 a.m.

The all-day camp fee is $120, the Kindergarten fee is $60 and the Preschool fee is $55.

Camp Blue Sky is sponsored by the Cooney Endowment for the Arts and SFCC. For more information, visit campbluesky.com or call (660) 826-6292. Enrollment is limited.
