Carlton Jay "Carl" King, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born March 27, 1930, in French Creek, NY, son of Delbert and Helen King. On March 14, 1969, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Lois Anne Moellering, who survives of the home.

Mr. King retired from the U.S. Navy as Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, American Philatelic Society, American Topical Association and the Fleet Reserve Association, of which he was president. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where he was library committee treasurer. He enjoyed stamp collecting, camping and gardening.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four children: Michael King, of the Philippines, Barry King, of California, Wendy King, of California, and Barton King, of New Hampshire; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Vivian Perkins, of Pennsylvania, Carolyn Damcott, of New York, and Ava Woodworth, of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Bailey; and two brothers, Jerry King and Maynard King.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Adams officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Meehan, Kim Graves, Don Plowman, Gerald Hunton, Jerry Greer, Stan Taylor, Gene and Pat Ferguson, and Gene and Aileen Murphy.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens, with military honors by the U.S. Navy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wesley United Methodist Church library fund.
