Missouri State Fair Daily Highlights: Sunday, August 12, 2012

The first weekend of the Missouri State Fair wraps up today and it is an opportunity thank our men and women in the military as it is Show-Me Salutes Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by I-Land Internet Services.  With Whiteman Air Force Base, Fort Leonard Wood, and various National Guard and Reserve Units stationed around Sedalia, it's sure to be a big day.  Those who are active military, military, veterans, an delayed entry recruits with appropriate I.D. will get in for free and immediate family members will get in for $1.  Plus, there will be $5 off carnival ride wristbands at the Midway ticket booth with coupon available at the admission gate.  In addition to the great military deal, there will be a Military appreciation ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Mathewson Exhibition Center.

Sedalia Residents Check for Unclaimed Money and Property at the Fair

One of the great things about coming to the Missouri State Fair is it is the opportunity for you to talk with your leaders and representatives from Jefferson City at many of them have booths set up through the Missouri State Fairgrounds.  State Treasurer Clint Zweifel is one example of those booths in the Mathewson Exhibition Center.

Missouri State Fair Opening Ceremony Honors Volunteer Fire Department [PHOTOS]

The first day of the 110th Missouri State Fair began today with speeches and music from the Marshall Municipal Band in front of the Fire Station on the North Side of the Fairgrounds. A large crowd endured the heat, as Mark Wolfe, the Missouri State Fair Director lead off with a speech that recognized the success and longevity of the fair.
