Sedalia PD’s “Tip a Cop” Fundraiser Coming to Applebee’s, Raises Money for Special Olympics

The Sedalia Police Department in conjunction with Applebee's will host a Tip A Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics Missouri on Wednesday, July 10 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Members of the Sedalia Police Department will work alongside the Applebee's wait staff all in an effort to raise money for Special Olympics Missouri.

Elm Hills Golf Course Hosting DARE Golf Tournament Today

The DARE Golf Tournament is today at 11 a.m. at Elm Hills Golf Course and you can still register for the tournament at the clubhouse. I am looking forward to playing with Mike and Fisher Jenkins for the first time. We have either been on opposing teams or not been able to play together, but this will be a special golf outing to benefit the DARE Program led by Brad Beard and Rodney Collins of the Sedalia Police Department.

On The Road With Doug: Wiener Dog Races in Clinton

It's time for another On the Road With Doug. When my wife, Diana, and I first started dating, she made it perfectly clear when I dated her, got engaged to her and married her that there would always be a dachshund in the house. Ever since we've had our home, we have had one, so I'm good there. One year I discovered an event at the Woodlands called the Wiener Dog Races. Unfortunately, the Woodlands closed, but Olde Glory Days in Clinton picked up the event and has been running it for eight years straight. This year's event was sponsored by American Family Insurance. Diana and I ventured to Clinton on Saturday afternoon (June 29) and settled in for the races. We were amazed that the stands were packed on the main side and there appeared to be about 20-30 dogs entered into the event.

Habitat for Humanity Accepting Applications for Housing Recipients

This morning I got to talk a little bit about a great project that's going to be coming to our area this summer.  I'm sure most people are familiar with Habitat for Humanity - they're a group that builds homes for families and individuals who are in extreme need.  With Sedalia's generous spirit, I'm sure that all of you will be interested in what they're doing.
