100-Year-Old WWII Veteran Finally Gets His Free Haircut from Dick’s Barber Shop [PHOTOS]

Brian Dick of Dick's Barber Shop in historic Downtown Sedalia had to pay up a bet up to World War II veteran Walter "Mac" McBride. Mac has been going to Dick's Barber Shop for years, and when Brian's dad Frank Dick retired, he told Brian that he never once got a free haircut from Frank. This was about four years ago, and Mac asked Brian when he would give him one. Brian told Mac when he turns 100 years old, he would give him a free haircut.

Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memories: Special Anniversaries

July has two very important anniversaries for me this year. One anniversary July 29,  marks 53 years that I have been married, and the other on July 10 is for eight years behind this KSIS microphone. After 53 years of marriage, I think I am starting to get the hang of that one. As for the radio, you the listener are my ultimate judge, but if you have enjoyed hearing and reading my mid-Missouri Memories these eight years half as much as I have enjoyed writing and bringing them to you on the radio both here on KSIS and my prior years with KDRO, then I am a happy man.

Doug's Secret Stash

When Was the Last Time You Listened to a Cassette Tape?

This week, I did something that has become a necessity. I am attempting to clean and organize our rooms in the back of the house. I'm sure many of you can relate with spring and fall cleanings. It's funny how whenever you clean a house, you come across some long lost antiques or a cherished memory, or something broken you felt you could fix, or even something you'd rather just forget. I have to admit, the cleaning part has not been real fun, but it has to get done. I do like the organizing and finding things a lot more. I think the discovery that has given me the most chuckles is front the photo that you see here.
