Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memories: Fall Fever

This memory is one I wrote in the fall not long ago, and with the chill in the air on some mornings, I am beginning to get the feeling associated with the memory again. It’s called “Fall Fever.”

Warsaw’s Heritage Days Celebrates Benton County

This weekend there's gonna be some big events going down in Warsaw.  A lot of us manage to head down to Truman Dam maybe a couple of times a summer, and it's always a great place to get away without a huge drive.

Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memory: 75 and Counting, Just a Bit Slower

I have passed many so called milestones in my life. At 17, I became old enough to join the Navy, which was an important one that made me feel all grown up. Just before I reached 21, I got out of the navy for the first time vowing to never return (a vow which proved to be premature). The second one was at “The Interlude” next door, also on the house (I knew how to milk a good thing back then).

Parks and Recreation Offer New Programs and Events for Fall [INTERVIEW]

As you guys are probably recognizing by now, I like to keep people updated on what's going on here locally. So every now and then I like to touch base with our Sedalia Parks and Recreation. They've always got something up the pipeline.

Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memories: Tummy Ache Food

Well, the growing season is finished for another year, and that means a lot of my favorite foods will not be available for another year. When I see the tomato vines begin to shrivel and die and the apple trees quit baring the apples I crave, it takes me back to my days as a boy with a cast iron stomach who would eat anything as long as it was green.

Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memories: Small Towns

I wrote this Mid-Missouri Memory years ago, but I found myself wondering about those small towns again after watching a re-run of Andy Griffiths show in Mayberry, a small town that I hope is still alive and well.

The NFL Should Not Delay Games for Weather [OPINION]

The NFL season is young, but I'm already seeing a trend this year that I really don't want to see anymore. There have already been three games delayed or suspended due to weather. The NFL used to play games in any condition. Last Sunday (Sept. 15), there were two delays; Tampa Bay vs New Orleans and then San Francisco vs Seattle.

Jack’s Mid-Missouri Memories: Taking The Drag

You could probably go to any town in the United States and it would have a street the kids call “The Drag”.  The location may change, but never the purpose, which for guys is a place to show off hot cars and meet girls.
