The sidewalks around the Pettis County Courthouse will abound with color this Saturday April 21 when "Chalk the Block," sponsored by Draggam, LLC, returns to Downtown Sedalia.

The public is invited to participate in the event, which is open to all ages and free of charge. "Earth Day" is the theme for April, as the worldwide event is celebrated on April 22 each year.

Participants can arrive at the courthouse any time between 8 and 10 a.m. to get registered, receive their chalk, and be assigned to a spot on the sidewalk.

Judging will take place at noon, with prizes being awarded in each of the age categories for the best interpretation of the theme.

Chalk the Block will be held the third Saturday with an Earth Day theme in April, an Armed Forces Day theme in May, an American Flag theme in June and a Sedalia theme in July.
