Charles Eugene Palmer, 90, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, at his home.

He was born June 13, 1925, in Otterville, son of Allen Earle and Ida Mae Stinson Palmer. On April 7, 1946, in Otterville, he was united in marriage to Virginia Oswald, who survives of the home.

Mr. Palmer was a farmer and worked for 22 years at Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Tipton. After leaving Stride Rite, he and his wife owned and operated a motel in Conway, AR. After returning to Sedalia, he worked at the Sedalia Democrat as district manager for 10 years. After retiring, he and Virginia enjoyed traveling and were members of the Good Sam's Camping Club. They wintered in Harlingen, TX. He enjoyed bowling, and loved family gatherings and being surrounded by friends. He also took great pride in his family.

In addition to his wife of 69 years, survivors include a daughter, Linda Stone, of Sedalia; a son, Michael Palmer (Jane), of Columbia; three grandchildren, Julie Hill (Randy), Angela Schmidtberger (Brandon), and Brian Palmer (Michelle); and four great-grandchildren, Paige, Brody, Delaney and Beckam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters; a brother, Perrin Palmer; and his son-in-law, Gary Stone.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Francis and the Rev. Don Satterwhite officiating.

Casket bearers will be Roger Stuedle, David Clippert, Paul Oswald, Mark Watring, Ronnie Palmer and Frank Oswald. Honorary bearers will be Ken Oswald, Bill Oswald, Jerry Palmer, Gene Palmer and Joe Palmer.

Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, at Heckart Funeral Home.
