Charles William “C.W.” Summers, 84, of Smithton, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at University Hospital in Columbia.

He was born March 11, 1930, in Beaman, a son of the late Frank T. and Mary (Imhauser) Summers. On January 13, 1951, at St. Patrick Church, in Sedalia, he married Anna Mae Stimpfel, who survives of the home.

He was born, raised and lived on the family farm near Beaman his entire life. He was a 1947 graduate of Smithton High School. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a lifelong farmer and ran a dozer for 47 years, retiring in the late 1990s.

C.W. always looked forward to the fireworks displays at the family reunions held on the 4th of July at Green Hill Farms.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Tommy Summers (Rhonda), of Smithton, Terry Summers (Diane), of Cole Camp, Sherry Taylor (Charles Lee), of Smithton, Tim Summers, of Sedalia, Sheila Staus (Fred) and Sharleen Boehm (David), all of Smithton; a brother, Earl Summers, of Sedalia; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank Joe Summers, Alfred Summers, Eugene Summers and Hubert Summers; and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at St. Patrick Church, Sedalia, with Father Mark Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Michelle Taylor, Kevin Taylor, James Taylor, Jeffrey Boehm, James Summers and Carter Boehm. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Summers, Randy Summers, Mike Moon, Joe Hunter, Jack Blaylock, Charles VonHolten and Ken Romig. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call 8 am – 1 pm, Monday, October 20, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, and after 3 pm at St. Patrick Church where the prayers of the rosary will begin at 5 pm with visitation to follow until 8 pm.
