Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Iowa Volkswagen Dealerships
A class-action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of anyone who bought diesel-engine Volkswagens in Iowa.
The Independence, Missouri, law firm of Humphrey, Farrington & McClain said Thursday it filed the lawsuit on behalf of Zachary Gall, of Independence, who bought a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta from a dealership in Iowa City, Iowa.
It follows similar lawsuits filed in other states this week after Volkswagen acknowledged rigging emissions technology on its diesel vehicles to pass air-quality tests. The lawsuit says Gall is suing for breach of warranty and violation of the Iowa Consumer Frauds Act.
Attorney Kevin Stanley said in a news release that Volkswagen committed fraud against the owners.
Volkswagen spokesman John Schilling said Thursday the company does not respond to pending litigation.
