Two Cole Camp residents were injured Tuesday afternoon in Benton County when a 2003 Lincoln driven by 67-year-old Leonard A. Sigman struck the rear of a southbound fertilizer spreader being pulled by a 1967 John Deere and driven by Wayne L. Schumacher, 65, of Cole Camp.

The accident occurred on Highway 65, 0.7 miles south of Route P in Benton County, around 1:40 p.m. when the Lincoln skidded and struck the towed unit, which separated from the John Deere, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in its report. The fertilizer came to rest in the southbound lane with the Lincoln underneath it. The John Deere came to rest in a ditch.

Injured were Leanna Sigman, 54, with serious injuries, and Leonard Sigman, 76, with moderate injuries. Both are from Cole Camp, and were wearing safety devices, the report said. Both were transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. Both vehicles had extensive damage.
