With the temperatures close to 100 degrees, I took the opportunity to take my family out to Nassif Aquatic Center in Warrensburg.  From years of being a student in Knob Noster and the University of Central Missouri,  I can remember only a handful of times going to that pool.   However, now that the park has greatly expanded their services, it truly is worth the family outing.

If you have never been there, it is very well worth the visit.  It is located near the Warrensburg Community Center and Parks and Rec, who runs the facility.  To me the big attraction is that there is something for everyone there.  They have a normal lap swim area, a diving board area where kids do all kinds of flips, an adult slide that zips around numerous times and  a kids' area where a giant bucket of water is timed to dump on those down below while it stands over a water playground.   Then there is the adult favorite, the lazy river.

The Nassif Aquatic Center was packed on the day we went, but there was still plenty of room to cool down and sit in the kids section while watching my daughter and other kids go down the slide over and over again.  I lost track after about 20 times.  My kids just finished swim lessons, so they wanted to show off their skills to me.   I have to say I was impressed with their love for the water, but they both shook their heads at the kids' diving into the pool.

I have so kudos to the lifeguards on duty. There has to be at least ten on duty at a time: two in the kids section, four in the lazy river, two in the lap area, two in the adult slide and then one in the diving area.

I highly recommend you take a visit.  There are lots of different programs from adult lap swims, to river walking to the traditional end of season doggie dive.  Why not consider having a birthday party there?  I forgot to mention they even have a concession stand, where I highly recommend the pretzel bites!

So what are you waiting for? Dive into your local pool and if you're in Warrensburg, jump into the Nassif Aquatic Center.
