Court Cases From the Courtroom of Judge Robert L. Koffman – February 25, 2014

The following cases were concluded during a felony docket the morning of Feb. 25, 2014 before the Hon. Robert L. Koffman.

Aimee Burton 35 of Sedalia, was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison when her probation was revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.  After first receiving probation in 2011 and then having her probation revoked one previous time, her probation was now revoked for failing to report to the probation officer.

28-year-old Eric Janes of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail.  The Sedalia Police Department’s STING Unit found baggies, a scale and a white, chunky substance resembling methamphetamine in the defendant’s possession.  The defendant said it wasn’t real and testing revealed no controlled substance.

Alexander Knipp age 25 of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, possession of burglar’s tools and stealing, charges arising from a January 4 arrest by Sedalia Police Officers who Responded to a call on Third Street, and found the defendant in possession of stolen property and burglar’s tools nearby.  He was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison.

24-year-old Ashley Parish of Syracuse, was sentenced to serve 5 years in prison for tampering in the first degree after her probation was revoked for failing to report to her probation officer and shoplifting.  She was first placed on probation last year and immediately failed to report to her probation officer.  She was arrested for misdemeanor stealing a week ago.

Tommy Peek II, 27 of Calhoun, was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison when his probation was revoked on a charge of attempted burglary.  He was placed on probation after pleading guilty in 2008.  His probation was revoked because he refused to enter substance abuse treatment as directed by his probation officer.

32-year-old Roy Sisemore of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to tampering in the first degree and four counts of stealing, charges stemming from several incidents last year.  He was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.  The Court retained jurisdiction to place the defendant on probation if he successfully completes a 120 day treatment program while in prison.

23-year-old Dayla Smiley of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance.  Sedalia Police Officers arrested Smiley October 13 after finding alprazolam in her possession during a traffic stop.  She was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail.

Crystal Thomas age 23 of Sedalia, was ordered to serve 7 years in prison when her probation was revoked on forgery and stealing charges.  The defendant was on probation after completing the 120 day Institutional Treatment Program, and her violations included repeatedly using controlled substances and failing to report to her probation officer.
