Sedalia Police Department and Pettis County Sheriff's Department Reports for Monday, December 28th, 2015

On December 26th, Pettis County Deputies towed an abandoned motor vehicle from Muddy Creek General Store on Highway MM.

Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies took a report of a burglary on Saturday, in the 4100 block of Briar Wood Drive. No additional information is included in the report.
Also, on Saturday, Pettis County Sheriff Deputies took another report of a burglary in the 21000 of Treasure Road in Pettis County. No details are specified in the report.

On the morning of December 23rd, around 6:25, Sedalia Police served a search warrant at 1518 East 10th Street. Arrested at the scene was 24 year old Shay A. Cunningham of Sedalia. He was arrested for possesion of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphenalia, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Around 11:15, on the morning of December 23rd, there was a theft reported at 4400 Wisconsin Drive. The caller stated that a female subject took items from the store without paying for them. The suspect was confronted by the manager but fled on foot. Jennifer M. Ray was later found and arrested for the theft.

On the morning of December 24th, around 11:00, there was a report of property damage in the 400 block of South Missouri. The victim stated that she was driving through the area, when she heard something hit her car. The driver and the passenger noticed two juveniles from the area. There was damage to the driver's side of the car. The juveniles had apparently thrown something at the car. By the time police officers arrived, the juveniles had fled the area. The investigation is ongoing....

On the afternoon of December 24th, around 1:41, in the 1900 block of South Montgomery, there was a report of Christmas light equipment that had been stolen sometime overnight. The reporting party, stated that missing from the scene, were 4 Star Shower laser lights, valued at $160.00. There are no suspects in the case.

Also on December 24th, around 5:24 that evening, in the 1500 block of East 4th Street, there was a report of a deceased subject laying in a chair. The reporting party stated that he found his roommate dead in the chair. The coroner was contacted and the body was transported to Heckart Funeral Home. The victim is beleived to have died from natural causes. The name of the deceased was not given in the police report.

Around 11:00 on the evening of December 24th, Joshua Ray Smith was arrested for causing a peace disturbance. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a bond of $283.00.

Around 10:00 on the evening of December 24th, there was a burglary reported in the 1000 block of East 5th Street. The victim stated that sometime last Tuesday evening, someone broke into her home but reported nothing was missing. Instead, the intruder had apparently poured vinegar on the daughter's bed. Upon investigation, there were pry marks noticed on the front door to the residence. No other details were listed in the police report.

On Christmas morning, around 8:00, in the 1200 block of East 7th Street, officers responded to a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, officers met with an injured female victim who stated she had been punched in the face by her husband. The husband was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold in the Pettis County Jail.

Around 9:52 in the morning of December 23rd, in the 1700 block of South Ohio, police officers and other law enforcment agencies were dispatched to serve a search warrant. The victim was found in a bedroom of the residence with a severe self-inflicted knife wound to the neck. Pettis County Ambulance District transported the vicitm to Bothwell Regional Health Center, where the victim was reported dead a short time later. No name was given of the deceased person.

On Christmas, around 7:44 that evening, there was a report of a fire at Roadrunner Auto Sales.Upon arrival, it was determined that the fire was actually coming from a residence North of the business.The fire in the vehicle was intentionally set. At the same time, there was a report of another fire West of that location on 7th Street. A van was found to be completely engulfed in flames. No one was injured and the arson investigation is ongoing....

On Saturday, December 26th, around 10:31 that morning. in the area of the 1000 block of West 10th Street, police took a report of a subject who hadn't been heard from in two weeks. Family members said they had tried to contact the subject through phone calls and knocking on his door, with no answer. Officers went to the subject's residence and were finally able to remove a window to the residence. The subject was located and found to be fine. No other details in the report.

On December 16th, around 9:51pm, in the 200 block of South Prospect, officers responded to a residence for a possible warrant. Officers made contact with the subject and ran his information through dispatch. Arrested at the scene was Michael Brandon Markell for an active probation warrant out of Sedalia. Markell was transported to the Pettis County Jail on $700.00 cash only bond. He was also placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of drug paraphanalia.

Around 1:00 in the morning on December 27th, Allison N. Brozek was taken into protective custody due to intoxication. She was later found to have 5 active warrants from Iowa. She was transported to the jail on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of fugitive from justice.

Around 1:12, on the afternoon of December 27th, int he 1500 bloc of West Main Street, 34 year old Curtis A. Pyle was arrested for an active probation violation warrant. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a bond of $2,500.00 cash or surety.
Also on December 27th, around 2:34 pm, a theft was reported from Walmart, located at 3201 West Broadway. Asset Protection personell saud a female and male subject stole a Garmin GPS on December 21st, valued at $159.00.

And around 6:00, on the evening of December 27th, in the 400 block of East 7th Street, there was a report of a subject yelling and screaming. The female subject was intoxicated and unable to care for herself. She was placed into protective custody at the Pettis County Jail.
