Daniel John Weller, 87 of Sedalia, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at Fairview Nursing Home, Sedalia.  He was born on May 22, 1927, in Sedalia, a son of Joseph P. and Clara M. (Klein) Weller, who preceded him in death.

On November 5, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Oda Marie Boss, who survives of the home.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1945 and honorably served until 1946. Danny was recalled to service in 1950, during the Korean War.  He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Victory Medal, Korean Medal, United Nations Medal, and one Battle Star.  He served on the USS Los Angeles and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Michael Weller of Overland Park, KS and Janet Weller and her fiancé Howard Graham of Leawood, KS; one sister, Bernadine Oehrke and her husband, Melvin, of Sedalia; one brother Harry Weller and his wife, Rosalie, of Phoenix, Arizona, and another brother-in-law, Dick Eckhoff; and one granddaughter, Alexa Weller; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Chaney and Ann Eckhoff.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sedalia with Father Mark Miller officiating.

The reading of the Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 17, 2014. The family will receive friends at the chapel after the Rosary until 8:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.

Honorary bearers will be John Witty and Pat O’Neil.
