Daniel "Scott" Murray, 37, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on August 26, 1978 in Mexico, Missouri, the son of Daniel Lee Murray and Linda Kay Preisendorf, who survive of Sedalia.

On October 13, 2009 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Melissa Thomas, who survives of the home.

Scott was a 1998 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School where he was active in the band and the art program. He also attended State Fair Community College. He worked at Wal-Mart in Sedalia for 17 years. Scott enjoyed collecting comic books, playing video games, watching WWF, and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He loved art and drawing with his best friend, Tony Mitchell. Scott was a devoted father. He loved spending his free time with his daughter and introducing her to various arts, crafts, and activities.

Besides his wife and parents he is survived by his daughter, Kaia, of the home; two brothers, Tony Murray of Jefferson City and Kevin Murray of Fulton, MO; a sister Stacey Smith (James) of Sedalia; father and mother-in-law, Ron and Dianne Thomas of Sedalia; several nieces and nephews; and host of friends.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Conrad and Leona Preisendorf; and paternal grandparents, Daniel and Wilma Murray.

A celebration of life gathering of friends and family will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel. In honor and memory of Scott, the family requests casual dress in your favorite comic book character or Broncos clothing items.

There will also be a 7:30 p.m. showing of Deadpool at Galaxy Cinemas in Sedalia on Thursday evening following the service. Family and friends are all welcome to come and watch it together in memory of him.

Honorary bearers will be Tony Mitchell, Alan and Nikki Powell, Josie Medlock, Cook, and "The Crew".

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
