Dead Infant Found in Barton County Pond, Highway Patrol Says

Authorities say a baby's body has been found in a southwest Missouri farm pond.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the resident who found the body in a rural area of Barton County contacted the sheriff's department Monday night.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. John Lueckenhoff said authorities haven't identified the girl or her family. He said authorities also don't know how she got in the pond.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Barton County Sheriff's Department.
