Denny Joe Altis, 63, of Sedalia, passed away, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his home.  He was born on January 2, 1950, in Ocean Port, NJ, a son of Benny Nathan Altis and June Ellen (Edwards) Haddock.

On June 27, 1996, in Las Vegas, he was united in marriage to Pamela Morrison, who survives of the home.

Denny went to Hawthorne High School, CA where he went to school with the Beach Boys.  He worked in Sedalia as a shift supervisor at Hayes-Lemmerz.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and the lake life. He loved to travel and drive the school bus for Sedalia Schools. He also enjoyed collecting cowboy western memorabilia and horses.  He loved his dogs Scooter and Skitles very much.  Denny was a quiet man, but when he was having a good time, you could always tell his distinctive contagious laugh.  He served his country honorably in the US Army, Vietnam.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jana Jo Hanlon and her husband

Michael of Sedalia; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Adams and her husband Dorsey of Sedalia; one stepson, Jonathon Willig and his wife Crystal of Independence; three brothers, Kelly Altis and his wife Char of Sedalia, Shaun Edwards of Sedalia, Shane Edwards and his wife Jennifer of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Chase and Clare Hanlon; four step grandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Lennon Adams, Jackson and Caroline Willig.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Kerry Altis.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 3, 2013, at The Missouri

Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville with Rev. Corbet Martin officiating.

Full military honors will be conducted at graveside.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Edwards, Shane Edwards, Jonathon Willig, Dorsey Adams,

Mike Hanlon and Pete Shirky.

Honorary bearers will be Kelly Altis and Jeremy Altis.

Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Sedalia on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Prayer service will begin at 7:30 pm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Early Childhood Co-op in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
