The Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department was recently awarded a $250,000 playground match grant to install a Destination Playground at two parks.

According to the City of Sedalia Newsletter, one of the playgrounds will be installed at Clover Dell Park next to the Soccer fields and shelter. This playground will include a play set for 2-5 year olds, a tree swing, “play” tree trunks to crawl through, log balance beam, a merry go round for all ages, a zip line track, and a large playground for children ages 5 to 12 years old.

The playground for 5 to 12 year-olds will also have eight slides, monkey bars, an xcelerator, and climbing ropes. It was also noted that two additional shade structures will be installed at the playground.

Housel Park will the replacement of the playground and swings that have been there for over 21 years. It will be replaced with a playground set and four swings.

Sedalia Parks and Rec Director, Amy Epple, added in the newsletter that the playground will be a big improvement to Housel Park. It will have a butterfly crawler, a river rock climber, and a double-vine climber.
