A Missouri man serving time for rape, kidnapping and other violent crimes has been charged in connection with the July 1986 rape of a Kansas City woman.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker says DNA evidence tied 61-year-old Cleophus Parker to the attack in Kansas City's east bottoms. Parker, an inmate in the Jefferson City Correctional Center, was charged Thursday with two counts of rape, forcible sodomy and first-degree robbery.

Baker says the case is the final one funded under federal Cold Case grants, which have resulted in 35 life sentences in the county since 2009.

According to court documents, the victim was walking to her car when two men forced her into the back seat of the vehicle, took her to a nearby location and raped her.
