Donald Robert Weller, 88, of Sedalia, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born November 8, 1926, in Sedalia, a son of the late Charles B. and Kathryn (O’Brien) Weller. On May 20, 1946, in Sedalia, he married Kathryn M. Schroeder, who preceded him in death on October 3, 1999. On June 14, 2002, in Sedalia, he married Madeline (Marshall) Van Wagner, and she survives of the home.

Don was raised and educated in Sedalia. He was a member of the first graduating class of Sacred Heart School in 1945. After high school, Don worked at Mullins Men’s Wear. He eventually acquired the store from the Mullins family and renamed it Weller’s Men’s Wear. He retired in 1989 and sold the business to his son, Kenneth, to carry on the family business.

He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 64 year member of Council 831 Knights of Columbus. He also held memberships in Elks Lodge 125 and the Sedalia Country Club, and was a previous member of the Sedalia Jaycees and the Sedalia Lions Club. He enjoyed baseball, football, playing cards and golf. He loved his five sons and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Madeline, he is survived by five sons, Gary P. Weller (Cecilia), of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Rick M. Weller (Bobbie Jo), of Osage Beach, Stephen J. Weller (Sheila), of St. Louis, Kenneth C. Weller (Carol), of Sedalia, and J. Scott Weller, of Sedalia; a sister, Mary Jo Bellmer (Don), of Osage Beach; and eight grandchildren, Brian Weller (Gina), Adam Weller, Michael R. Weller (Julie Ann Thompson-Weller), Kris Weller (Wendy), Lauren Weller, Gregory Weller (Jill), Charly Jo Akers and Myles Akers

In addition to his first wife, Kathryn, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles B. Weller, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Mark Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Brett Williams, Michael Weller, Gregory Weller, Joe Bellmer, Tony Menefee and Bill Labus. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Weller, Don Bellmer, Dale Weller, Steve Brennaman, Wil Tobaben, Mary K. Williams, Mary Ann Smith, Phyllis Golden and Carol Bolin. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Prayers of the rosary will begin at 6 pm, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 with visitation to follow until 8 pm at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
