Donna M. Brainard, 95

Donna M. Brainard, 95, of Sedalia, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born August 31, 1918, in Wadena, IA, a daughter of the late Chris and Sophia (Frye) Wenger. On January 16, 1944, in Elgin, IA, she married Lee G. Brainard, who preceded her in death on March 7, 1984.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, dancing, gardening, doing yard work, baking and was known as the “cookie lady”.

She is survived by five children, Kristine Hineman, of Meridian, ID, Helen Scott, of Bonne Terre, Virginia Brainard, Tina Gerke and Richard Brainard, all of Sedalia; two siblings, Betty Masonhall, of Postville, IA, and Robert Wenger, of Downers Grove, IL; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Wenger.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be 1 pm, Wednesday, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with Rev. J.D. Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Sacred Gardens.
