Doris Emma VanBaale, 81, of Sedalia passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Cole Camp, MO.  She was born on May 28, 1933 in Reasnor, IA a daughter of Marion and Vera (Wilson) Spain.

On March 27, 1952 in Reasnor, IA she was united in marriage to Darrell VanBaale, who preceded her in death on September 23, 2012.

She worked for Broderick and Bascum and Inter-state Studio.  She also worked for KMOS Television and before moving to Sedalia in 1959, she worked for Maytag Company in Newton, IA.  Doris loved to sew and cook.  She enjoyed spending the winter in South Texas.  She was a member of Good Sam’s Club and Wesley United Methodist Church, Sedalia.

She is survived by two children, Diane Connor and her husband Dennis of La Monte, and Dennis VanBaale and his wife Neala of Sedalia; one grandson, Adam VanBaale of Overland Park, KS; two brothers, James and his wife Judy of Newton, IA, and Dale Spain of Hayward, CA; one sister, Betty Springer of Newton, IA; one stepsister, Lyla and her husband, Ray Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA; one sister-in-law, Colleen Spain of Newton, IA.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Ethel Spain and two brothers, Robert “Bob” Spain and one at infancy; three sisters, Leona Neal, Ruth Partlow and Wanda DeMoss.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel Rev Rick Adams officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Burial of the ashes will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia following service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church in care of the funeral chapel.
